I encountered No Place as I was putting myself through Utopia Conjuring Therapy, a pseudo-psychoanalytic, part-anthropological, new age ritual I developed to try and conjure utopia into being. Before encountering No Place I was only able to unleash portions of my own psyche, this is my first encounter with what I believe to be an “other” people and place. The following are my research notes and drawings from an attempt to learn more about this place.

Wild Flowers
I have returned to collecting plants. I hope to uncover how plants and people can exchange genetic material.
Saya Woolfalk is a New York artist who re-imagines the world in multiple dimensions (sculpture, installation, and painting to performance and video). She has exhibited at PS1/MoMA; Deitch Projects; Contemporary Art Museum, Houston; Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Studio Museum in Harlem; Momenta Art; Performa09; as well as other national and international venues. With funding from the NEA, her solo exhibition The Institute of Empathy, will open at Real Art Ways in the fall of 2010.
